BIO

Su Isaac is an Indian indie-soul artist based in Los Angeles and has been writing and performing across the globe to a steadily growing fanbase. Inspired by soul legends like Badu, Aretha, Sade; refreshed with new-school vanguards like Moonchild, Daniel Caesar, Nai Palm, and mixed in with a little classical south Indian influence, you can hear the culmination of her influences in her music. She recently released her debut E.P. titled "Good Fruit" which was born out of the necessity to give oneself credit for all the work put into something beautiful, and being able to reap the benefits proudly.

E.P. TRACK LISTING

The title track 'Good Fruit' is about learning as you go, putting in the work and (sometimes too) eagerly waiting for the reward. It is also about the vices you pick up to help you keep going, and the delicate balance of it all.

Lyrics

'Drunkenly'  reminds us to be gentle with ourselves, and careful with our vulnerability. It's an unsent letter to an ex lover that couldn't or wouldn't be the one she needed them to be. An experience most of us share.

Lyrics

'I Want' is essentially a diary entry of all she wants out of life. Her demands are as simple as they are broad and intangible. She loves life and all the joy it brings but is equally terrified of how quickly it all changes.

Lyrics

'Trouble' comes from a lifetime of experiencing flings and fuckboys and being tired of the game but then potentially and hopefully finding someone that's worth the risk and that's in it for the long haul.

This song was written in collaboration with the incredible Nate Rich who plays guitars on the whole EP

More About Su

Su was born in a big, bustling, culturally rich and diverse city called Chennai, in south India into a music loving family. Though there were plenty of hardships throughout their life, she learnt from them the art of not just coping but thriving through music.

Her mother, noticing that she could carry a tune pretty well, enrolled her in Carnatic music classes to train her voice. She loved it and stuck with it for 8 years. She was also in various choirs in school and church, and when she was 15 started playing in bands and vocal ensembles. She continued to write and perform music through college while earning her Bachelor's degree in Architecture. She realised along the way that music did not fit into her life as a hobby, and in fact took up most of the space in her waking dreams, so in 2018 she packed up and moved to Los Angeles to study contemporary music and artist development. During those years, she also learnt about surviving life so far away from home, making new friends through the differences, coping with loss and grief, navigating mental health, and falling in love.

After 5 years of living in the land of stars and working with many talented musicians and projects, she have released her debut E.P titled 'Good Fruit'. This 4 song collection is meant to be the firing gun in her musical career and marks only the beginning of a hopefully long one.

The songs in the E.P. are introspective and groovy, taking what she learnt from her RnB and Neo Soul idols and using it to express herself the best way she can, hoping that the music reaches and resonates with an audience and gives them as much joy as it did her.

Time to reap the good fruit, and keep on sowing.
